ABOUT ME

My name is Jordan Daggar. I started Better Company K9 because of my own dog, Wes. He is a Standard Australian Shepherd, and was full of reactivity, anxiety, and overall bad behavior. I struggled with him a lot, using “force free” and “positive-only” training methods. Through countless hours of trial and error, balanced training methods including the use of remote collars, slip leads, prong collars, etc. I was able to get Wes to a much better state of mind. Giving Wes both sides of the equation, reward for good behavior and correction for unwanted/bad behavior, made life a whole lot clearer for him. I saw his anxiety, fear aggression, and stubborn behavior start to disappear, and I saw a much happier, confident dog emerge.

After seeing what the proper training could do for my own dog, I was hooked. I wanted to help as many dogs and as many people as I could. I dove deep into training methodology. It’s still all that I think about, and I truly found my passion in rehabilitating dogs with loads of behavior issues.

After taking numerous online courses and studying all the material I could get my hands on, I started shadowing underneath Pat Curran of Regional K9 in Rochester, NY. I got real, hands on experience working with dogs that were training under him and bettered my techniques and mindset.

I once heard someone say that every human was once an innocent, small child no matter what issues and problems they have. The same is true for dogs, but I find that it goes a little further than that. Dogs carry that sense of innocence with them their entire lives, and it is the human’s job to help them understand right from wrong. Any behavioral problem that a dog has is usually a product of their environment or caused by humans. Dogs are primal and instinctual animals, but they also have the ability to manifest friendships with love in one of the purest forms. I believe I’ve found a unique gift within myself to help dogs and see past their surface level problems.

I want to help both owner and dog find better company in each other.
